‘ONE LAST BOOK’ APPEAL FOR GREENLEAF

category bristol | community | news report author Tuesday September 06, 2005 09:16author by reader Report this post to the editors

Sad demise of Greenleaf....

Greenleaf Bookshop closed in July. A great loss to Bristol. Please support their appeal for help to pay off their debts. Details in their statement below:

Due to increasingly difficult trading conditions, after almost 23 years as an independent community bookshop, Greenleaf Bookshop Co-operative Limited has been forced to cease trading.

Currently, we, as co-op members, are personally liable for a total debt of £8000. A campaign called One Last Book has been kindly started by The Spark in hopes of clearing this debt. They are asking that those who used any of our services in the past and would like to buy “one last book” from Greenleaf can do so in spirit by donating £10, the approximate price of a paperback.

The Spark notes that “if we get 800 readers doing it we will have raised enough both to pay it off and in a small way honour their efforts.”

Cheques can be made out to
'Avon Co-operative Development Agency'
and sent to:

To our incredibly loyal customers and friends, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support over these years.

It is with both gratitude and deep sadness that we say goodbye and request that you please choose to support local businesses. There is great power in your choices.

Best wishes for the future, Jo Boyd, Emily Clarke, Di Ward & Melissa Warner
