Fairford retrial verdict
Hung Jury - Not Guilty
Day 6
After 9-10 hours, the jury could not reach a majority verdict either way – Hung Jury. The prosecution stated they had no further evidence to offer and, just before 4 p.m., the Judge ruled Not Guilty.
Extremely, extremely good news, for everyone who has been following things, for the unique & brilliant defence team and, of course, for me.
Peace,
Josh
p.s.
Here are the previous daily updates which I didn't post at the time.
Day 5
Jury have failed to reach a unanimous decision and, in the morning, will be instructed to try and reach a majority verdict – 10 out of the 12.
Verdict can therefore be no later than 1.00 pm. tomorrow.
Thankyou again for all your messages of support and especially to those who were able to come down to court, for what was a particularly slow day with more waiting around than much else.
Days 3&4
Last Friday, Day 3, saw the cross examination of myself and the last of the defence witnesses, Mr Godsell.
Felt a bit more positive after Mr Blair’s cross examination and, hopefully, I’ve managed to get a bit more of the case over to the jury.
Mr Godsell, with his RAF and civil aviation background as both pilot and ground crew, was a star, once again. This expert testimony has been central to challenging some of the prosecution’s more fantastical allegations, for which I am extremely grateful.
Today, Monday & Day 4, was the defence & prosecution closing statements, plus the majority of the Judge’s jury instructions.
Tomorrow, the Judge will finish off his instructions and then send the jury off to deliberate. I don’t anticipate the jury taking more than the day to deliberate, so, hopefully, a decision tomorrow.
All in all things are no worse than my last trial and significantly better than they were 6 months ago. As ever, though, it is all up to the 12 random folk from Bristol to decide – fingers crossed!
:-))))
