At the City Wide Tenants Forum held at the Council House on Monday 22nd October at 6pm a motion was raised and passed by majority consensus.
The motion read:-
It is moved that a motion of censure be passed on the Housing Management Board for their action in withdrawing the City of Bristol Federation from the Tenant Participation consultation process. (Currently underway until 23rd November)
That the action of the Tenants concerned was so contradictory to the majority view that it makes their position untenable and prejudicial to Tenant Participation in the City in the future. According to a recent draft report from the audit commission the Housing Management Board they are out of touch and guilty of a misuse of power they should do the honourable thing and resign their positions forthwith.
Will Graham Sims (Head of Housing Management) now accept the majority view of democratically elected body of tenants and reverse the decision of a minority selected board and reinstate the City of Bristol Federation in the current consultation forthwith.
We can only all wait and see, the next Housing Management Board meeting will be in early November. The question is how much more can Tenants put up with being overshadowed by the voice of a few SELECTED Tenants?
