Death by dangerous cycling

"The father of a 17-year-old girl who was fatally injured in a collision with a cyclist has said it is "laughable" the man has only been fined."

I am not surprised that this cyclist was not charged with dangerous cycling/manslaughter. This is becuase motorists have been "getting away" with killing thousands of people every year with only at times, what appears to be a minor slap on the wrist.

Too many people are dying on our roads becuase of the ignorance of other orad users, the vast majority of which happen to be motorists who are either speeding, drunk, using their mobile 'phone, and at times any combination of all three.

What is difference here is that it is a cyclist who is the offending party and not a motorist.

This also leads me onto to question whther or not pedestrians shouls be made to wear helemts when out and about. I wander whther or not Rhiannon's life would have been saved by one.
