Reminder: Bristol Indymedia Editorial Guidelines

category south west | media and culture | news report author Monday September 01, 2008 16:26author by imcvol Report this post to the editors

A reminder of the Editorial Guidelines for Bristol Indymedia and a technical note.

We have hidden two articles relating to a fishing program on Channel 5. The poster remarked;

For some reason after submitting this article an IMVOL desided to remove it yet it wasn't put on the hidden list with an explanation for it's removal!?!

Currently there is still a bug that stops hidden articles from appearing on the list - only comments. We are working on fixing this soon. This article was hidden (and the most common reason we hide articles) because it contained no references to the South West, as per our Editorial Guidelines;

Non-Bristol/South West: posts which have no clear relation to these geographical areas. Whilst the Bristol Indymedia collective acknowledges that national/world events have an impact upon the people of Bristol/the South West of England, the purpose of Bristol IMC is to share local news. We aim to raise awareness of the role of UK IMC as an open forum for national news, and the role of other IMCs, as relevant, as open fora for international news. NB: This does not include articles which analyse the impact or potential impact that national/world events have upon Bristol/the South West of England - postings which articulate such connections are welcome.

For wider issues please use UK Indymedia and/or Global Indymedia. We hope this helps. Any queries on this, please contact us.
