Anarchy in the Venue, whatever next?

Interesting to see an anarchist get a full page in today's Venue mag (page 9), and for once its not an Ian Bone shock-horror rant, but instead a fairly well thought out considered piece. Intriguingly, there seems to have been no editorial stitch up, no 'anarchists to rampage through Bristol' angle, although some of us may have seen such a promise as very enticing!

So whats the Venue up to? One can surmise they've picked up on a press release from the bookfair people (see this newswire, and their website), and if so they seem to be the only mainstream media who have. No surprise there, as experience shows the mainstream media do not run pro-anarchism pieces as a rule. Maybe its just the Venue angling for a bit of street cred with the new crop of university students? Maybe there's a sympathetic journo there?

Whatever, it is good to see some anarchists raising their profile and going public, even if we never find out which one is Davey Gower! It is also good to see a clear, concise arguement for anarchism, that comes over like so much common sense, which it is of course.

So who will be showing up for the bookfair? Some of the psuedo-anarchists from Bristol's lifestylist ghetto perhaps, although its a bit early start for them, and there'll be no bar. Some of Bristol's more serious anarchists should show, as there's plenty of debate for them to get their teeth into. And hopefully there'll be a lot of people who are interested in the ideas, and concerned enough about the disaray the world has fallen into to be looking for new solutions, and not afraid to question the proponents of anarchy too.

I for one will go for sure, it looks like potentially a fascinating day.
