Ashley News - Play Areas, Parking and More

category bristol | local government | news report author Saturday September 20, 2008 13:13author by Fw-ed Report this post to the editors

This is an amneded version of the email newsletter sent out by Cllr Jon Rogers which has some interesting stuff in it I thought I would share......

Albany Green play area is improved and operational. St Pauls Park is proving a hit with young people. St Agnes Park has had recent trouble with mud, but is due for extensive investment and Des Bowring has put up some new plans for Montpelier Park at http://tinyurl.com/mont-park. Thanks to Friends of St Andrews Park and the Parks Department for new picnic benches, new recycling bins, a thriving wildlife pond and for looking into possibilities of bye-laws. And a treat - a 32 page book on "Narroways - History, wildlife and community" is available from St Werburghs City Farm Cafe. A snip at £2.50!

Proposed Sefton Park School expansion. There is continuing debate and concern as objections seem to be ignored. The Primary Review consultation report gives the expansion the green light. The Primary Review report is due to go before Cabinet on 25th September 2008. More details at http://www.ashleygrangeresidentsorganisation.co.uk/

Little news yet on the Residents Parking Scheme consultation. I understand that there has been a large response (25% = 13,000 responses) as well as many letters and emails and these are being collated. Any scheme must command the support of the majority of residents and businesses and must not be seen as a "cash cow" for the council.

http://www.globalxchange.org.uk is coming back to Bristol and offering unique cultural & educational opportunities for young volunteers from around the UK and the Philippines to live and work in Bristol. David Whittaker, the Programme Supervisor is looking for suitable voluntary organisations and homes for the stay. Interested?
