The Financial Meltdown has arrived in the South West as Bristol Evening Post Watch observes: Just one week after the Post greeted the opening of Carboot Circus with the most ridiculous and uncritical hype they are today reporting the first closure of one of the luxury stores as the economic crisis begins to bite the retail sector. The neoliberal ideology that has dominated for so long is in tatters as free market warriors carry out the biggest nationalisations in history. While Parky explores the other options to Capitalism; Capitalism is in crisis and we are not any closer to articulating what an alternative might look like. Here in Bristol we should be talking and thinking about alternative economic systems.
