critical mass bike ride

category bristol | transport | event notice author Wednesday October 15, 2008 19:02author by critical massive Report this post to the editors

Last friday of the month: gather, celebrate and ride your bike.
Bristol is the Uk's cycling city, so let's put her on the map!
This month is a special Halloween ride; fancy dress and music...

Meet at 5:30, to ride at 6:00pm, at the sails opposite the Hippodrome.

get on your bike
get on your bike

"Love your bike: love your planet.
I'm chokin' and there's people dying damn it!
So let's stand up and RECLAIM OUR STREETS,
We'll cycle with love and velorutionary beats.
And for once the cars won't own the road,
They'll take note of our wide load!
CRITICAL MASS is a changing of the tide,
So, my friend, are you coming for a ride?

It always irks me somewhat that these happen last thing in a Friday when people have been working all week and just want to get home. It would be MUCH better to have Critical Mass first thing in the morning when people are heading TO work. There's more chance of people listening to the message as you are not subtracting from their personal time. A genuine excuse for being late is always good too.
I think it's worth going the extra mile for an early start.

Just an idea.

To whom organised the Critical Mass.

I have participated to the Critical Mass in October. I really enjoyed it and I think it is a very good idea. We were I guess about 40-50 people.
My problem is I went to the fountains last month, last friday of january and we were only 4 of us.
Obviously we did not do it.
I wanted to ask the person who first organised it if it is still happening, if it is going to happen this month and later. I have started talking about it and put some posters up.
I am a bit worried that it will be the same as last month and it would be a bit disappointing.
Could I also have a message from the people who would like to advertise it with me...?

Thank you
Marlene
