Pictures of the Raytheon roof protest

category bristol | peace | news report author Wednesday December 17, 2008 17:08author by nickleberry Report this post to the editors

I visited the Raytheon roof dwellers on the week-end and took a few pics. Please, folks, go up and visit!

The banner says it all. Stop the killing!
The banner says it all. Stop the killing!

Three hardy souls are planning on spending Christmas on Raytheon's roof. There have been plenty of other postings on this newswire about their sterling efforts so, now, get behind them! Bristolians need to show their support for what these guys are doing. The police are maintaining a very minimal presence so you've got every opportunity to pass supplies up to the guys on the roof.

Incidentally, this business park is home to some really nasty companies. Companies like Thales and Boeing also have offices at the same site. Their business is a blight on this good town, and we should be doing our utmost to drive them out!

Make love not war!

And again.
And again.

Defiant on the roof.

Camping three stories up.

It's peaceful among the clouds.

Should have done your homework first. Raytheon rent a small office and only 2 people work in it. They aint there most of the time. The building has quite a few companies in it. I should know that as i do deliveries in there every day.
O by the way since these two idiots have been up there this time that office has been closed and they have been working out of there new place. Enjoy your xmas up there boys

Can anyone confirm this, or is this just a troll?

Agree with the point the guys are making, but also with previous comment from 'driver'.

The people you're shouting at don't work for Raytheon, and have no idea what you're on about. If you want to make an impact, target your protest more intelligently to save just pissing everyone off.

Driver is right there are only a few Raytheon staff who work there. Why do you think the police and Raytheon have allowed the protesters to stay so long?

Raytheon Systems Limited has a small office in Bristol that is currently used as a meeting location.

With the growth of RSL's naval programme activities the Bristol office is currently being expanded to accommodate additional pesonnel.

Whatever their involvement in Bristol is, we don't want it.

I think the protestors are doing a great job and will have to go and join them one day

When's the next Solidarity Demonstration????

Not every company in the park is a 'dodgy weapons manufacturer' .. this protest is a disruption to normal people too. I know for a fact that most of the business which immediately surround the Argentum office (which incidentally is used as a meeting place for normal commercial business) have many employees who feel intimidated and some who have been verbally harassed by the protesters.

What about Motability, they work with physically impaired people to provide transport for them.. how long before they get a bag containing faeces thrown into their trees, or someone who mistakes them for a different business and get their windows put through.

I'm all for the right to protest, but with the sprawling MoD building less than a mile up the road, wouldn't that be a better target?

they keep on holding demonstrations on days when nobody's there and/or very few people can make it, it's as if they're trying somekind of reverse psychology, where instead of holding big demonstrations with high visibility, holding small demonstrations with low visibility will invert the space/time continum, or something, and punch a quantum hole in the public's conciousness.

Obviously they are applying similar quantum principles to their publicity, where not giving the time or correct address will somehow create a awareness vacuum which first implodes, and then explodes outwards into an instaneous awareness of the time and address without ever having to give any of these details again.

so it's unlikely you'll ever see many more people than those on the roof anyway.
