Following the success of the Boycott Israel protest at Tesco Broadmead earlier this week, we are moving on to Tesco Eastville
Meet at Tesco Eastville on Saturday 4th April from 12 noon.
Gather in the forecourt to protest against Tesco's continuing sale of 'Israeli' products - some of which come from Palestine and are produced under near slavery conditions.
This is good news on the face of it but - the bottom line .................
The UN has appointed South African judge and former war crimes prosecutor Richard Goldstone to lead a fact-finding mission to the Gaza Strip.
Mr Goldstone will investigate alleged violations of international law during the recent conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants.
Martin Uhomoibhi, president of the UN Human Rights Council, said the mission would be independent and impartial.
Israel calls the council biased and has previously refused to co-operate.
Mr Goldstone will lead a four-member team, which also includes experts from Pakistan, Britain, and Ireland, in investigating "all violations of international humanitarian law" before, during and after the Israeli campaign in Gaza that ended on 18 January.
"It's in the interest of the victims. It brings acknowledgment of what happened to them. It can assist the healing process," Mr Goldstone said.
"I would hope it's in the interests of all the political actors, too."
The fact-finding mission, which will aim to provide clarity on the legality of the deaths and destruction, is due to start work in the region within weeks, the UN said.
The council voted to set up the investigation into at a special meeting in January, after widespread allegations of war crimes committed by Israeli forces in Gaza.
However, the Israeli army says its operations in the Gaza Strip "were carried out in compliance with the rules of warfare under international law".
It says it took "numerous measures to avoid causing harm to the civilian population".
The Palestinian militant group Hamas is widely accused of basing its forces within heavily populated areas, allegations it denies.
The Israeli government has in the past refused to co-operate with UN human rights council investigations, including one led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
It is not clear whether Israel will co-operate with the new investigation.
"This committee is instructed not to seek out the truth but to single out Israel for alleged crimes," said Yigal Palmor, spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
He said the council was a discredited body.
'Shock' appointment
Mr Goldstone is a former UN chief prosecutor for war crimes in Yugoslavia and Rwanda. He is also a former judge at the South African constitutional court.
He is also on the board of governors at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Mr Goldstone said he was "shocked, as a Jew", to be invited to head the mission.
"I've taken a deep interest in what happens in Israel. I'm associated with organisations that have worked in Israel.
"And I believe I can approach the daunting task that I have accepted in an even-handed and impartial manner."

Same amount as any other shop, but Tesco was started up by teh j00000000000000000000000z !1!! (Tessa Cohen) so it has to be targeted for special treatment (they tried doing Marks and Sparks too but they won't take any of this rubbish, also it is easier for the middle class protesters to hassle proles than middle class people).
Fun fact: During the Gaza conflict a Tesco delivery driver was attacked by unknown assailants who yelled anti-Jewish and anti-Isreal slogans, apparently he suffered a head injury requiring stitches as a result. Also at least one Tesco was graffitied with anti semitic slogans.
Do you really want to be a part of this? Why does a British business owned (or at least founded) by Jews have to answer for Israels actions? I notice you don't target Asda, although they stock West Bank produce.
I am wondering where and when this attack happened -please send a link. And what were the slogans?
If one or two people have been out of order then it still doesnt invalidate the peaceful act of refusal which is now being adopted by so many people ie the boycott of Israeli trade, whoever is offering it.
Asda is also going to be the focus of boycott action -along with whoever else may be selling produce from the state of Israel and its illegal settlements. Tesco is an obvious first port of call as it is a huge company that controls a massive 30% of the retail trade in the uk.
The world will not stand by and allow Israel to act like nazis against a virtually defenseless population which they have herded into a ghetto. The rockets of the Palestinian militia are but fireworks compared to the huge arsenal of lethal weaponry that Israel has at its disposal and has used on the Palestinian people -courtesy of the US and the UK.
Anyone who criticises Israels vicious inhumane behaviour is labelled as anti-semitic in an attempt to silence them. There are plenty of Jews who are sickened by what has been done to the Palestinians, and see Zionism for the insanity that it is.
Our government has taken no action. Lloyds TSB and the BBC have also kicked the Palestinians in the teeth. It is down to us, the citizens, to impose our own sanctions on Israel until such time as it ceases its systematic abuse of Palestinians, and compensates them for everything it has stolen.
The appartheid regime in S. Africa (which was fully supported by Israel!) was dealt a crippling blow by the boycotting of their trade.
We intend to do everything in our power to ensure that Israel pays dearly for what it has done. And they will continue to do so until they cease and put right the terrible injustices that they have perpetrated against the people of Palestine.
To help the people of Palestine
We won't buy grapefruit or Israeli wine
And if you're wondering what you can do
Please join the boycott and help them too.
Chorus:
Don't buy dates
Don't buy Jaffa fruit
Don't buy Israeli wine
There's a boycott going o-on.
Repeat
Tell all your neighbours, 'Please don't be shy
Read all the labels before you buy
If it says Israel, don't hesitate
Don't put apartheid upon your plate!
Chorus
Check sweet potatoes, avocadoes too
If it says Israel, you know what to do
Just read the bar codes - those little lines
Things made in Israel start 7 2 9.
Chorus
So help the people of Palestine
And don't buy grapefruit or Israeli wine
And if you're wondering what you can do
Then join the boycott and help them too -
Yes join the boycott and help them too!
Thanks for your concern, concerned consumer! There will be a list posted asap of products to avoid in order to boycott Israeli trade. This will be the products supplied by Israeli companies and those non-Israeli companies that do a lot of trade with them.
To be going on with, off the top of my head, there is a lot of produce to avoid, from tesco or any other outlet. Beware of some of the small local shops too!
Any kind of Jaffa fruit, anything with the label Carmel or Agrexco (avocados are often Israeli) Anything with the country of origin as Israel or 'West Bank'. (especially dates)
Carmel/Agrexco is a nasty firm owned in large part by the Israeli state and it grows produce on stolen land, which it sells in the uk -enjoying special trade conditions.
Always look for the country of origin as its surprising sometimes what comes from Israel -and produce may appear in the same kind of packaging from week to week but from different places. There are a lot of peppers around, especially the orange ones, from Israel -and also new potatoes. Agrexco supply flowers, too...

Break the siege! No Borders national day of action for Gaza
No Borders UK | 30.03.2009 12:35 | Anti-militarism | Migration | Palestine | World
On the 5th February, Israel and Egypt shut all borders with Gaza. Egypt has said it will close the Rafah border indefinitely as Gaza is an 'occupied territory'. No Borders UK calls for an immediate opening of Israeli and Egyptian borders with Gaza.
No Borders calls for a day of action on 27th April. Target those profiting from the siege (BAE, G4S, Caterpillar, EDO, Raytheon etc.).

No Borders is a network of groups struggling for the freedom of movement for all and an end to all migration controls. We demand the end of the border regime for everyone to enable us to live another way, without fear, racism and nationalism. We support groups in resistance on both sides of the border, from Anarchists Against the Wall in Israel, to the Free Gaza movement.
Solidarity with the victims of war does not mean solidarity with capitalist factions in a war from which they seek to benefit, nor does it mean supporting a cross-class, abstract national collective and its ethnic “rights” to lands. No Borders calls for a day of collective action against those responsible for the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. However, No Borders also rejects abandoning coherence to support a victory for a dangerous interpretation of “anti-imperialism”.
No Borders is reiterating the existing call from Palestinian community based organisations and the over 130 grassroots NGOs in the Palestinian NGO Network for an immediate opening of all border crossings currently controlled by Israel and Egypt. Refugees have been held at the border and denied medical care. The war is apparently over, yet hundreds are dying everyday because of this most brutal of border controls. Egypt blames Hamas, whilst Hamas claims that the injured refugees restrained themselves out of contempt for Egypt.
No Borders acts in solidarity with all those who are fighting to break the siege and stop the border control in Gaza. We call for collective action and practical solidarity with the people of Gaza. No Borders rejects all forms of nationalism and state based 'solutions'. Ethnicity does not grant “rights” to lands, which require the state to enforce them. People, however, have a right to having their human needs met, and should be able to live where they choose, freely.
In solidarity with Anarchists Against the Wall, the "Sarvanim" Refuseniks of Israel, the Sderot residents, Free Gaza, and the International Solidarity Movement, we call for a day of action targeting the profiteers and implementers of this siege. We call for groups to take action calling for an end to the brutal siege through civil resistance and direct action. No Borders calls for action in solidarity with those who reject all forms of nationalism, including the 'anti-Imperialist' nationalism endorsed during the war by some left-wing groups. We call for freedom of movement for all and an acknowledgment of those who are fighting on both sides of the borders to bring an end to the siege.
Israeli companies are feeling the impact of boycott moves in Europe, according to surveys, amid growing concern within the Israeli business sector over organised campaigns following the recent attack on Gaza.
Last week, the Israel Manufacturers Association reported that 21% of 90 local exporters who were questioned had felt a drop in demand due to boycotts, mostly from the UK and Scandinavian countries. Last month, a report from the Israel Export Institute reported that 10% of 400 polled exporters received order cancellation notices this year, because of Israel's assault on Gaza.
