A festival of resistance

Capitalism isn't working. This simple truth is becoming clear to millions of ordinary people across the globe.

Those experiencing war, hunger and poverty know it’s true. Those facing attacks on wages and conditions know it’s true. And so do the tens of thousands being thrown onto the dole queues. As the crisis deepens, the bosses, bankers and businessmen will do everything possible to make ordinary people pay for the crisis. But does it have to be this way?

With the crisis comes the possibility of resistance. We have seen the mass struggles taking place on the streets of France, Greece and Ireland. We have seen the struggles of those facing war and occupation in the Middle East – and the demonstrations and student occupations here in solidarity with them.

The situation globally and in Britain contains both opportunities for change and dangers.

Marxism 2009 will bring together voices of resistance from around the world to discuss and debate the issues and the way forward over five days in central London.

You will hear fantastic speakers, learn about inspirational struggles, and experience film, theatre, art and music of resistance.

Most importantly, we will strengthen our fight to change the world. Make sure you’re part of it.
