600 Choir Singers belt it out for Water Aid

I'm not really into choir singing but this was free (!) and it was for a good cause. And the weather was great.

Sing Your Socks Off saw 600 choir singers (count ‘em) singing a range of songs (world music, gospel, and, yes, sea shanties) on June 27th at the amphitheatre down at the waterfront. And all for Water Aid.

It was quite impressive, atmospheric and even, at times, moving.

There wasa good crowd but we needed a few more people to support it – or at least to make a donation to Water Aid.

If this week’s hyped heatwave proves anything it shows that we all welcome a nice glass of water. It’s stuff most of us take for granted but for some it really is a matter of life and death.

This year’s Sing Your Socks Off event is the first of its kind in Bristol (so it needs to make a name for itself). If you care about making a positive difference to the world around you – you read Indymedia so you must?! - then why not support it next year?

(Unless you went on Saturday of course, then you’ll know how good it was).
