Vote is to strike: CWU Official David Wilshire said “this is further proof that our members have rejected Royal Mails plans” David went on to say “Royal Mail claim this is about modernisation but in reality there is nothing modern about cutting jobs”.

Postal workers at a further five Royal Mail depots in the Bristol area have today voted “Yes” to strike action. The “Yes” votes ranged from a 2:1 majority at Nailsea to a 8:1 majority at Clifton. Postal workers at Kingswood returned a majority of nearly 4:1, with those at the BS1 (City) depot delivering a 6:1 majority for strike action. Additionally those at Woolavington voted 2 - nil for a strike.

These “Yes” votes are in addition to those already gained at Yate, Keynsham and Portishead and the strike action will be co-ordinated across as many depots as possible.
