1984 was a warning, not a manual

Bristol anti cctv and surveillance group
second encounter.

"Surveillance cameras clearly present a serious threat to privacy and civil liberties and the alleged trade-offs of safety or security are unproven and vastly outweighed by the risk of creating a police state."

Britain has more cctv than any other country in world, but studies show it hasn't done anything (nearly significant enough) to reduce crime rates.

Sunday's discussion is for anyone pondering our surveillance society, concerned about the looming database state, and the strange laws being made in the name of "safety". Or if you just find the whole thing abit creepy.

Mp's announce the ID card bill has been scrapped, whilst doing everything they can to bring it and the national database in by "stealth" when no ones watching.

We'll be looking at the Oxford nocctv group who amazingly, and inspiringly have legally got camera's taken down.

If you think we should sort ours problems ourselves without some gross omnipresence watching,
the talk will be at 35 Classics, next to the Emporium at 02.00 pm
