Following on from the discussion and info about the elections for MPs http://bristol.indymedia.org/article/692368 - this is about the local elections on 6th May: Voting is not THE answer, but it is AN answer. Not voting favours groups like UKIP and the BNP whos voters will come out and who have much naster agendas... Better a LibDem or Green than BNP or English Democrat. But not only that, strong votes in favour of progressive candidates sends a signal to the population at large that we are not alone.
The BNP are standing in the following Wards:
Avonmouth
Bedminster
Brislington East
Brislington West
Filwood
Hartcliffe
Horfeild
Knowle
Lockleaze
So if you live in any of these - please vote as the BNP need apathy to win. They got LESS votes in the European Parliament elections but because the turnout was so low, this gave them 2 seats. Which gave them a load of resources to pay thier cronies out of EU funds and build the party with the cash. If Bristol gives the BNP a kicking in the balot-box they might not bother next time...
