Remember battle of the Bean field?
Margaret Thatcher - not dead yet
Illness: Margaret Thatcher's spokesman confirmed today that she was making good progress but not expected to leave hospital in the next few days.
The unpopular ex-prime minister was admitted to the private Cromwell Hospital, in west London, on October 18 after failing to recover from a bout of flu.
She was forced to pull out of a Downing Street reception to mark her 85th birthday the previous week due to illness.
For those of you who may have been too busy fighting the Tories as they put the ‘N’ back into CUTS, you may be interested to hear what is happening to the much hated children’s milk snatcher. She’s about to die.
The maggots are drawing lots over who’s gonna have the sickening job of
chewing on its rotting flesh. Well we won’t have to wait too much longer now.
There will be a party in Trafalgar square to celebrate the end of this evil witches’ life.
There are many reasons why people will turn out to piss on its grave and a few of them are listed below.
Speaking for myself, one of the events that got me politicized was the way the pigs behaved towards children, women and men at what has become known as the Battle of the Beanfield. This took place when the pigs stopped several hundred members of a peace convoy from setting up the fourteenth Stonehenge free festival, in Wiltshire.
There were between 80 and 120 vehicles, most of them buses and vans that had been converted into living spaces by their owners -- New age travellers, along with several hundred people in the convoy

Northern Ireland (1981)
Bobby Sands began the strike, saying that he would fast until death unless prison inmates won concessions over their living conditions. Thatcher refused to countenance a return to political status for the prisoners, famously declaring "Crime is crime is crime; it is not political" and felt that Britain should not negotiate with terrorists.
Thatcher became an Irish Republican hate figure of Cromwellian proportions,
describing her as "the biggest bastard we have ever known"
Privatisation (1983–1987)
British Petroleum was privatised in stages in October 1979, September 1983 and November 1987; British Aerospace in January 1981 and 1985; the government share in British Sugar in July 1981; Cable and Wireless in November 1981; Amersham International and National Freight Corporation in February 1982; Britoil in November 1982 and August 1985; British Shipbuilders, Associated British Ports in February 1983; Jaguar in July 1984; British Telecom in November 1984; the National Bus Company in October 1986; British Gas in December 1986; British Airways in February 1987; the Royal Ordnance in April 1987; Rolls-Royce in May 1987; the British Airports Authority in July 1987; the Rover Group in August 1988; British Steel in December 1988; the Regional Water Authorities in November 1989; Girobank in July 1990; and the National Grid in December 1990.

In July 1986 Thatcher expressed her belief that economic sanctions against South Africa would be immoral.

Gulf War
Thatcher was visiting the United States when she received word that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had invaded neighbouring Kuwait. She met with US President George H. W. Bush, who had succeeded Ronald Reagan in 1989, during which Bush asked her, "Margaret, what is your view?" She recalled in an interview that she felt "that aggressors must be stopped, not only stopped, but they must be thrown out. An aggressor cannot gain from his aggression. He must be thrown out and really, by that time in my mind, I thought we ought to throw him out so decisively that he could never think of doing it again." She put pressure on Bush to deploy troops to the Middle East to drive the Iraqi army out of Kuwait.Bush was somewhat apprehensive about the plan, so Thatcher remarked to him during a telephone conversation, "This was no time to go wobbly!" Thatcher's government provided military forces to the international coalition in the Gulf War to pursue the ouster of Iraq from Kuwait.
Thatcher – a chemist, created toxic offspring, the twisted twins.
On 13 January 2005, Mark Thatcher, in a South African court, pleaded guilty to helping finance a coup plot in Equatorial Guinea. South African police were able to prove that Mr Thatcher had transferred about US$285,000 to the mercenaries that were to execute the operation and had met and talked frequently to them prior to the coup attempt. After pleading guilty, he was given a four-year suspended sentence and a fine of about US$ 560,000

I saw Britain's position in the world change out of all recognition during the Thatcher era. In 1979 we were a bankrupt country that depended on IMF loans, the army in Germany could not afford ammunition for its exercises, and nationalised industries sucked subsidy after subsidy to the point where Government spending was just under 60 per cent of GNP.
Today, history repeats itself after 13 years of "New Labour". People who complain about temporary unemployment or social spending cuts forget that the false boom of Blair and Brown is akin to the economic disaster that was Wilson and Callaghan.
Manipulation of employment figures by creating public sector "jobs" is pointless if people are subsidised to stay in work doing next to nothing. Social spending is damaging if it leads to runaway deficits. Instead of trying to spin Mrs Thatcher's successes as failures, people should instead be looking closely at the covert way that New Labour undermined them.
Now we are back dealing with the runaway Government hiring such that today it is in the civil service instead of coal and steel. And we are back dealing with a record deficit.
She went to war (Falklands) legally and won.
New Labour went to war illegally and we are still losing.
She was a disaster for our manufacturing industry, but as a consequence she handed the developing world an opportunity to do just that – develop and so improve the lot of their citizens.
Her biggest fault was being autocratic and not listening – I see little difference between her and Blair/Brown.
I just hope there is another grocer's daughter/son out there, and not some Eton toff we have now because after the 13 years of New Labour economic mismanagement, we are going to need him/her and none in Westminster comes close.
Margaret Thatcher invented the idea of "Global Warming" as a way of convincing people to leave coal in the ground in her battle with the Scargill.
Strange that her original idea, at odds with the science of the time that was predicting "Global Cooling", has become such a celebrated cause by those that usually say they hate her!
The Global Warming “industry” is probably her greatest achievement.
Funny old world.
"Pig = carrying a bag for a lady? Clear that it depends on your bias as to how you interpret a picture."
Bless you. If that was all that happened that day, you might have a point. As the article states, however, that is far from the case.
"People who complain about temporary unemployment or social spending cuts forget that the false boom of Blair and Brown is akin to the economic disaster that was Wilson and Callaghan."
Nice try, but you need to widen your reading beyond the Daily Mail and Telegraph. Treasury spending increased by nearly 50,000% in 2008, with £85 billion spent on bank recapitalisation, the same amount as the cuts announced in the Spending Review. Before the recession caused by the bank crisis, the UK National Debt was lower than when Labour came to power in 1997.
"Social spending is damaging if it leads to runaway deficits"
It didn't. And what you call 'social spending' i call the necessary infrastructure that keeps this society from collapsing into Total Capitalism, and the banking industry has shown what happens when you leave things up to the markets.
£1.5 billion is estimated to be lost in benefit fraud every year. £2.7 billion is lost to corporate tax fraud, and billions more in avoidance because of the loopholes in laws created by your dear grocer's daughter.
"Instead of trying to spin Mrs Thatcher's successes as failures, people should instead be looking closely at the covert way that New Labour undermined them."
It would have to be very covert, because even Blair himself ended up calling himself a Thatcherite. If Blair was a commie, why did he not repeal ANY of the draconian Thatcherite anti-union laws, that mean that strikes are almost unwinnable today, and end up denying workers the right to withold their labour as a form of protest? Taff Vale is with us again - like 100 years of class war never happened.
"Manipulation of employment figures by creating public sector "jobs" is pointless if people are subsidised to stay in work doing next to nothing."
The only reason that benefits are higher than wages is because wages are so low, they fall below the minimum threshold that could support a family. Wages in real terms are lower now than they were in the 1970's. The average household has to rely on debt or benefits to help bridge the gap. I assume you would rather the level of £1 trillion of personal debt in this country was increasing?
Your grocer's daughter destroyed the fabric of community that used to support people, that used to support the vulnerable and the infirm, who know have to rely on council and state aid. She created this society where no one knows their neighbours, and crime is faceless and goes unpunished. And the most disgusting thing is she did it deliberately, just like the Tories are now using the 'shock' of the bank bailout to implement another Thatcherite war on the poor.
FIGHT THE CUTS!
MAKE THE RICH PAY!
Jon - did you watch the videc? I've repeated the link below. The pigs were fuckers that day. I chose that picture because it represented how the filth made that new born homeless, Through their excessive use of force and violence.
Yes, the pigs are bullys, thigs and hired boot boys of the state.
As for the economics, Boyd has answered you better than I could of.
All I know is I left school under her reign and suffered greatly due toi her policies. I'm talking from experience not through academic reading up on the subject.
She is evil and I will celebrate her death.
As for 'legal' war when you refer to the Falklands.
Surely yuo do not believe that properganda. That whole situation could of beebn avoided using diplomacy.
But winning a war is good for your career prospects - no?
Sorry? Did I read this right? You think that Margaret Thatcher invented the global warming "conspiracy" as part of her battle with Scargill?
You must have been zipping back and forth in your time machine so much that you've got your co-ordinates mixed up. The Miners strike was in 1984 & 1985. Margaret Thatcher's famous speech to the United Nations General Assembly (Global Environment) about the dangers of climate change was in 1989. One can - and I do - say a great deal about Margaret, but to try to claim that this speech was part of some conspiracy to try to do the miners over is, frankly, laughable.
It was a speech delivered by a person who, regardless of her politics, had an intimate understanding of scientific theory and praxis. The idea of global cooling leading on to a new ice age had already fallen out of favour amongst most climate scientists. What she was doing here was simply using - quite rightly - her position as a Prime Minister AND a scientist, to point this out to the bunch of PPE graduates who fill the world of politics.
It was probably the most important thing she ever did!
On the 8th Nov 1989 Margaret Thatcher shocked the UN with a speech that at the time was contrary to the accepted “wisdom” in that Climatologists at that time were predicting Global Cooling. In a cynical move to undermine Scargills equally cynical use of the Global Cooling scare to justify the continuation of coal mining, Thatcher started the Global Warming ball rolling. Yes the Minors strike was in the mid 80's and yes Thatchers speach to the UN was in 1989 - but by then, the minors had gone back to work, Thatcher had won and wanted to rid the UK of what she and a lot of the world saw as "the British Disease" - i.e. strikes. In 1989 she took on the Ambulance Unions and won. But by that time she was increasingly out of touch and struggling to hold onto power within her own party.
Hence the drastic nature of her Global Warming speech.
Her full speech can be seen in the link:-

Now I know this truth will upset some who cannot comprehend such a hate figure being one of the prime and initial movers in the Global Warming bandwagon – but a quick google and research into the actual events of just 20/30 years ago will be very revealing to anyone who has been fed a sanitised version of the truth.
After all we cannot have a right wing rabid woman politician being on the side of Global Warming now can we.
As for the excepted Climate view of the time - dear old Schnieder - he of the required "scary scenario" fame was going hell for leather in the 70's and 80's
One of his papers:-
Schneider S. & Rasool S., "Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide and Aerosols - Effects of Large Increases on Global Climate", Science, vol.173, 9 July 1971, p.138-141
Here are the opening paragraphs of that paper -
ATMOSPHERIC CARBON DIOXIDE AND AEROSOLS:
Effects of Large Increases on Global Climate.
Abstract. Effects on the global temperature of large increases in carbon dioxide and aerosol densities in the atmosphere of Earth have been computed. It is found that, although the addition of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere does increase the surface temperature, the rate of temperature increase diminishes with increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. For aerosols, however, the net effect of increase in density is to reduce the surface temperature of Earth. Becuase of the exponential dependence of the backscattering, the rate of temperature decrease is augmented with increasing aerosol content. An increase by only a factor of 4 in global aerosol background concentration may be sufficient to reduce the surface temperature by as much as 3.5 deg.K. If sustained over a period of several years, such a temperature decrease over the whole globe is believed to be sufficient to trigger an ice age.
Oooooooooooo Errrrrrrrrr!
Then we had a couple of warm summers and Maggie wanted to bolster her slumping popularity with a new mission to bash the unions and Scargill in particular so she justified what she had done and was doing with the notion of Global Warming.
Read the speech and realise who was there, helping at the birth of Global Warming as its political Midwife!
You can try to re-write history and it can be done on the likes of Wikipedia - but books now - that is a whole different ball game.
Forward thinkers and observers were onto Climate Change and joining up the causes long long before Thatcher.
Earlyest reports of concerns were in the very early 1900s.
Thatcher just saw a marketing excuse. What legislation did she bring in?
