BANES council are telling us just how skint they are, & how they've got to sack staff & close services. But at the same time one councillor got paid £4,400 last year for attending one meeting, which lasted for half an hour !!

I make that a rate of just less than £9K per hour. £315,000 a week. £16,380,000 a year. He could be a banker !!

This councillor is Chris Cray. He is the independent councillor for Westfield, Radstock, & he chairs the Regulatory (Access) committee. That means he's in charge of footpaths. They had 3 meetings last year. He didn't bother to go to 2, he only went to 1. That started at 10.00am on 6th April, & the minutes say it finished at 10.30.

He gets this £4,400 per year to do this even though the panel that recommends how much councillors get paid said that this committe didn't justify extra money to chair it. & if they say it's OTT it's really got to be OTT !!

He gets it because the Tories in BANES dont have a majority in the council, & he told Cllr Haeberling, the head of the Tories, that if she paid him this, then he would vote with the Tories. The tories did, & he's been a good boy ever since !!

Oh, & on top of this he gets £7,800 per year basic councillors allowance. According to BANES website he should have gone to 7 meetings last year, but he only turned up to 3. Too busy counting hois money I guess, as he ALSO gets a BANES pension on top.

If you think this is crap drop a line to
