Climate Rush Bristol Launches Sunday the 4th of March

Inspired by Climate Rush, the London-based eco-activist group who chained themselves to the gates of parliament in opposition to Heathrow airport expansion, a group of friends from Easton have set up their own Climate Rush Bristol group from their front rooms.
Climate Rush Bristol plans to launch with their first public meeting on Sunday the 4th of March, 2.30pm at Hydra Books on Old Market.
The event which will feature an introduction to why they have set up the group; a talk from Liz Snooks from Plane Stupid on her experience of direct action, group discussion where people can voice what they feel are important local environmental issues in Bristol and a secret surprise ending!
The group says, “Climate change is the greatest threat to our future well being, yet the powerful people seem to be refusing to act. In Bristol there are so many issues to tackle: hydraulic fracking, airport expansion, unaffordable train and bus tickets and bad services, too many cars, not to mention an increasingly unequal greedy world that is making the climate change situation worse. As a group we want to raise awareness and take direct action for a better world. By thinking creatively we hope to make our actions fun, inclusive and visible. There are many different roles available, allowing people to be as involved as they choose. We want to collaborate with existing environmental groups and we hope that many people from all over Bristol will want to get involved, get inspired, get creative and join us to make Climate Rush Bristol. We need you.”
