Revolt and Revolution in the Middle East: where next for the resistance?

The resistance to oppression and despotic rule continues to gather pace right across the Middle East and North Africa. While Ben Ali and Mubarak have fallen in Tunisia and Egypt the search for workers’ freedom and democracy continues in part of a more protracted process of revolutionary change. While western governments make noise about ‘humanitarian’ intervention we must remember the long and brutal history of imperialism in the region. The future must lie instead in the bravery and courage of ordinary people.  We must give full support to the resistance in Bahrain and Syria and build solidarity with workers’ struggles.

Thursday May 10th, 730 pm, 5th Floor, Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft.
