Kebele smashed window appeal

Bad shot or what?!  Last week Kebele had a window smashed and the cafe donations box stolen. We estimate that money taken was around £100 and the cost of repairs was £150. Kebele is currently struggling financially and this was a bit of a blow.

Over the years Kebele has organised a great deal of solidarity fundraising for a huge range of campaigns, causes and comrades.
So, now maybe it's our turn to ask for some support. We are asking all supporters of Kebele who value the work of this self organised, not for profit autonomous space to to consider making a donation to help pay for this damage and to show solidarity. Alternatively, if anyone is willing to organise any fundraising event or has any good ideas or contacts, help would be well appreciated. Get in touch via kebelesocialcentre@riseup.net  if you can help show that, faced with broken windows, our solidarity remains intact!

seems highly suspect that its just after a highly publised anarchist action on the trains,
kebele being the only anarcho social centre in town gets smashed in.
seems like a "retaliation" imo
was probably the train union

Why do you think this isn't the FAI themselves. In their battle against capitalism, cash was stolen from Kebele by the FAI.

Expect to hear a computer generated press release from them today.

This could just as easily have been done by the FAI, or some other weirded out little splinter of Anarchism, in objection to the preening obtuseness of Kebeles intent to embed its position in civil society.

Kebele is Civil Anarchism and Kebele must be resisted by all true anarchists. The brick is a reconfigured message in need of no further explanation. It speaks for itself.

The money was seized by true anarchists from the slathering creatures of falsely inflated dichotimised anarchy, insitu and via its venal attachment to capital. You do not need money you only need bricks.

Or some other weird postmodern gibbering like that they picked up from their Sociolgy degree they flunked out of, in favour of a post modern rampage without disjustification.

Civil Anarchism is a multi-faceted false clown, with ears at the front of its face, listening to the calamatious noise of the frictionless disparity of its own wordless mouth, formed from its bat like echoing discontinuities. It faces forward, but does not see, blined by its obsessive intoxication of the slathering illusions carved out of the reconstituted echos of those windowless curved objects called people.

War upon war within a mouselike doorstep is an inverted necessity of rebellion without limitless reconverted chips sticks of strife.

The obviousness of this is paramount. It is paramounted upon the candle sticks of deep thought and deep counter illusional carefree intensities.

Not until we are all free with the frieze freeze out the horizontal deconstituted vertical ramifications of godlessness.

I have a brick.

I thow it.

The brick is a vortex of thought careering through the constant glue of Civil Anarcho discontinance.

It hits. Discontinated shards of crystalised sand gather at my War like feet.

They are shards of hope in a sea of blinkered dapple light.

The brick sees me, and it invisibly winks at me in a godless, venally acquitted pause as it rests.

A billion febrile bricks or more and the jabberwocky of non-rebellion will be ushered out, and ushered in will be a new dawn.

Take that Kebele, Take that the Banks, you are all part of the same inter corrugated pattern of brickless denialism.

Love the brick.

The brick is freedom without pasteurisation.

Until all are free.

Love and kisses x

From elsewhere on this site:

"It is a horrible creature, this civil anarchism. A slathering, craven and despotic monster with eyes in the back of its head which tries to be what anarchism will probably never be – palatable to the modern consumer masses... Every smashed window is a refusal to make demands..."

Sounds like the kind of tormented thinking and venom which leads inexorably to something like a brick through Kebele's window, by a "true" anarchist.

Don't you think?

It even refers directly to smashing windows in the same breath.

From Indymedia Europe:

Review of spurious reports completed.

325.
Anarchist / anti-capitalist information clearing house.
Update:

Because it became apparent to us at the 325 project that over a two-year period we had inadvertently reproduced many false descriptions of acts of resistance, we proceeded to systematically research the content of our site.
We have now completed working through a careful process of cross-referencing and rigorous double-checking of all communiqués. We are now totally confident that all reports of direct action and resistance that we currently transmit are genuine.

We need to express our appreciation for the valuable help from our international comrades in the final detailed verification of all the reports.

We continue our support for actions taken by individuals or groups in the fight against capitalism, against the state, and for earth, animal and human liberation.

The project is part of an international informal network that not only provides an alternative media outlet for people who are accused or convicted of anti-capitalist, anti-state, anarchist and earth/animal liberation direct actions, but is also somewhere we can publish direct action reports from active revolutionary groups. In this way, 325 aims to help revolutionary individuals and social movements bypass the corporate media’s manipulative stranglehold on information.
325 reaffirms a commitment to the polymorphous revolutionary struggle and to all forms of resistance against exploitation, be they sit-ins, leafleting, occupations, graffiti, general assemblies, strikes, sabotage and attacks against property or the oppressors themselves.

We welcome feedback and critique on our website as well as on our solidarity work from rebellious individuals and those organised in the global social movements.
Inquiries from revolutionary, anti-imperialist, alternative, independent and movement media or individuals are encouraged and will be answered as quickly as possible.
Please send us any updated prisoner addresses, news items, reports and direct action communiqués from around the world.
Contributions are received via web-based contact.

For the struggle against capitalism and every form of domination.

I smell smug self-righteous bulls***t.

While you all go on with complicated language that no one understands, looking down on everyone who isn't as "enlightened" as you, some of us haven't got wealthy parents helping us to sail through our experiment with "being one of them poor kids" and recognise that we can't be 100% against the state all the time, because it's hard enough to survive in it.

Yeah, Kebele may get a bit wordy and not attract as much of a diverse crowd as it hopes, but everyone needs their social space to help deal with the mess that is capitalism, and a lot of people find this in Kebele.

So basically, leave it be, we're not attacking your social networks. If you don't want to give to Kebele for whatever reason then don't, there's no need to be a prick about it.

MUTUAL AID! Can I just remind everyone on this site that we are, at least allegedly, all fighting for the same ends?

Kebele promotes a variety of different means of achieving this end, and most importantly provides a forum for people to meet and engage with other people with similar views. I imagine without social centres like Kebele, life as an anti-capitalist would not only be fucking stifling, but pretty lonely too.

Throwing bricks through windows is all well and good as a means of creating a new society and as an action against a malevolent oppressor, but what happens if we ever actually achieve the sociological overhall we all hope for? I doubt somehow it would be much good without the kind of community and community mindedness that social centres like Kebele promote.

I don't deny the right of anyone to throw a brick, but perhaps we should keep in mind that there are far better and more disempowering institutions that have yet to be bricked.
Perhaps we could take all the brick lobbing energy on here and concentrate it on a real target? After all chucking projectiles at a place you know will not call the police or threaten you liberty in any way is a pretty wimpy move...

Moreover, if you don't include some level of collectivism in your brand of Anarchy, you should probably go back to those text books you appear so fond of and find out a proper definition of your politic.

What the fuck was that up in the comments? I hope that was a piss take.

Also I doubt it's any particular union that's done this. Surely the action gave them more work to do...

Lots of very silly trolling and divide & rule tactics going on here over what is a simple straightforward situation.
Kebele puts up a short statement & appeal for financial support after a window is broken and a donations box stolen. Thats it, its a theft of some money that had been donated towards Kebele's running costs. Such low level stealing is not an unusual event in these times of poverty & recession. Yes its disappointing that a radical social space has been robbed, but there is no evidence of more sinister motives, however much the conspiracy theorists & trolls may like to dream.

As other posters have pointed out, we need our own spaces like Kebele. After a period when Bristol had several publicly accessible radical social spaces, we are back again to just the Kebele. In due course there will no doubt be others again, we need our own radical community spaces in every neighbourhood - a space for discussion, networking, socialising, and putting into practice (in a small way) the sort of future world we are striving to win.

Solidarity with Kebele and all other social spaces like it, now and in the future.
