Open Day at Bristol Wood Recycling

The Bristol Wood Recycling Project celebrates it's eigth anniversary on Saturday 9 June with a public open day.

There will be drinks and cake; wooden games & a DIY planter making workshop, info and a site tour. Come along to see what we do and why we do it, and what you could do to help (or set up a similar project). Workers from the workers co-op that runs the project will be on hand to chat and answer any questions. There should also be a stall from the Eastside Roots gadrens project, who just might be joining us in the area later this year.

Saturday 9 June, 10am to 4pm, at BWRP, 13 Cattle Market Rd, Bristol BS1 6QW (right behind Temple Meads station). All welcome.

BWRP is a project set up in 2005 to recycle/reclaim as much waste wood as we can - wood that may otherwise just have been burnt or sent to landfill. From 2 volunteers with a good idea, we have grown to be a project with 7 staff, 2 vans, a functioing workshop, and offer a supportive environment to numerous volunteers (4 current staff are former volunteers). Apart from an initial rent holiday on the land we rent for our site, we have been entirely self-funded, and therefore sustainable, and have collected over 1400 tons of 'wood waste'. Come along and find out how we did it, and how you too can benefit from the reclaimed wood.

This open day is also a fringe event of Bristol's Big Green Week, which runs from 9 to 16 June across Bristol.
