Massive changes are underway in our schools. Local council schools, with some degree of democratic accountability, are being replaced by privatised academies and free schools and back comes selection to sort and grade kids into success or failure from an early age. Teaching and learning methods which put the child are first are being replaced by target-driven ‘teaching by numbers’ enforced by school inspectors who behave like the Spanish Inquisition and as a tool of the Government. Teaching is being de-skilled and pay and conditions destroyed.

British education has always been an instrument of class rule but teachers, parents and students are fighting back. Find out how you can join in that fight.

Bristol Stokes Croft Socialist Workers Party Meeting with discussion led by local teacher and NUT activist Nigel Varley.

Thursday 21st June, 730pm, 5th Floor Hamilton House (Co-Exist), 80 Stokes Croft
