The aftershocks of the bankers’ financial crash in 2007 are being felt throughout Europe. Governments have sought to impose austerity to make ordinary people pay for the banks’ indebtedness. This has brought down the economies of peripheral countries of the EU, such as Greece, Spain , Portugal and Ireland. Yet workers are fighting back. In Greece, after 18 general strikes, new left wing parties wish to reverse austerity and default the debts. In Spain, the miners of Asturias have renewed their tradition of militant fightback. But what of the Euro? Should workers and their parties call for Euro exit? How can we resist the bankers and build a better society?
