INTERNATIONAL BLOGGERS WEEKEND

Bloggers from across Europe are to visit Bristol for two days of debate and information exchange at the Watershed next weekend (27-28 July).

BLOGGING IS WHOSE BUSINESS? has been organised by the EU MediaAct project www.mediaact.eu at the University of the West of England in association with MediaWise and the NUJ.

The opening session on Fri 27 July at 19:00 will examine the variety of functions fulfilled by bloggers and will end in time for the Olympic opening ceremony being screened in Millenium Square.

On Sat 28 July from 10:00 - 17:00 in the Pervasive Media Studio at the Watershed, there will be a chance to see and discuss  the relative values of online regulatory mechanisms including the NUJ ‘kitemark’ and the Corrigo technique devised by German media students; the creation of an international forum to share techniques, achievements, problems etc; and to debate about how best to protect free speech online.
