![]() On Thursday 23rd August 2012 a small group of people will begin a walk in memory of Buddhist monk Handa Shonin. They are walking for a nuclear free future starting from the atomic weapons research station at Aldermaston on August 23rd to arrive at Hinkley Point power station on September 1st. On their journey they will stay at Bath, Bristol Central and Claverham Quaker Meeting Houses. They will stay at Bath on Monday 27th, at Bristol Central QMH on the night of Tuesday 28th August and at Claverham on 29th. Anyone who is in sympathy with the ethos and aims of the walk is free to take part. Please see their flyer (attached) for their info about what to expect and what they expect of people joining them. There will be several opportunities to meet the group along the way. Friends at Central Meeting wish to support the walk. We hope that whether or not you are able to get involved you will hold the walkers in your thoughts and prayers. In the schedule below you will see that there is time both on the Centre (down by the waterfront where the fountains are opposite the Hippodrome) and at Central Bristol QMH for people to meet the group. We also hope that groups whose aim is peaceable opposition to nuclear weapons or who are working for a nuclear energy free future will come and bring a small stand with information about their work. This will be on display at the meeting house from 4:30 onwards. |
