Under Stalin the goals of the 1917 Russian Revolution disappeared from view. The original socialist project of the Bolsheviks collapsed. But how should socialists today interpret this period of history? Was this simply a case of a rightward bureaucratic drift from Lenin to Stalin, or did Stalin's policies lead to a counter revolution? The theory and practice of State Capitalism seeks to address this problem. The significance is more than just historical interpretation, and has major implications for the practice of 'socialism from below'.

Discussion meeting of Bristol Stokes Croft Socialist Workers Party. Thursday August 23rd, 730pm.

5th Floor, Hamilton House (Co-Exist), 80 Stokes Croft.
