Chris Skidmores offices visited and shut down

category bristol | protests | news report author Friday September 07, 2012 20:36author by Activists Report this post to the editors

Early on Friday morning activists from Youth Fight For Jobs and Bristol Socialist Party visited Chris Skidmore’s surgery to protest against his new book Britannia Unchanged that attacks working class people as lazy. A police officer patrolled the area and a sign was on the door saying ‘closed due to unforeseen circumstances’. So Skidmore had bottled it after hearing about our plans and closed his surgery, much to the annoyance of his constituents.

Despite Skidmore’s escape we surrounded his office and with chants and the help of a hooter we kicked off the protest, while activists gave interviews to Radio Bristol. After about an hour of ringing Skidmore’s doorbell, activists marched on the shopping area and gave out leaflets hailed with cheers and drivers tooting their horns.

If you are interested in todays action and want to get involved YFJ activists will be opposite the Hippodrome at 12PM tomorrow.

Wouldn't worry about this new Tory book called "Britannia Unchained" (I prefer your title which is probably more apt regarding this party. As the saying goes "We're Conservative, we don't do politics".) If for instance the authors think that employment laws are "too favourable to employees" and the general workforce "idlers with poor productivity" within the UK they are clearly deluded :

@Skidmore

How would Skidmore have quit why would Skidmore have quit He has no reason to - has anyone looked at the photos there were four of them - how could anyone in those numbers force him to quit. This wasn't class war it was just four people
