![]() a plea for help basically, after watching inconvenient truth, I felt it went some way, but missed a great deal, to explaining how we are in this miss and what the changes needed to address global warming really mean for our daily lives. The film doesn't really show how carbon emissions and global warming are a by-product and symptom respectively of a lifestyle bankrupt ethically, environmentally, socially and in many ways financially. What I want to do, cutting to the chase, is write a proposal for a short film/animation/play which takes a typical day, for any of us. The more mundane the better. And at each stage we look at what resources are involved, where each product has come from, the possible or actual damage of our actions. The story behind all the little things in our day. The tap left on whilst brushing the teeth, the imported (and probably not fair trade) orange juice at breakfast, along with all the appliances. The car or bus to work. The snacks we buy and the rubbish left behind. The newspaper we read and discard. The light switches and appliances left on at home. The patio heaters at the bar. You get the picture. I know it won't work if we analyse everything, you could spend a day listing all the problems with just what is in your bathroom and kitchen. However, I think, or hope, it might show how connected we are, even without flying or anything else so obvious and tangible, in everyday life to different problems in the world and in particular global warming and the environment. If you have any ideas or you are interested in making this more than an idea someone gets in the middle of the night please contact me. By the way, I am in Bristol, so I am looking for local help, but if people are further afield please contatc me too. Cheers, Jonathan |
