The Big Green Gathering 2009, which was due to be held on Fernhill Farm from Wednesday 29th until Sunday 2nd has been today officially canceled after the directors decided to hand the licence for the event back to Mendip District Council, after they were threatened with the prospect of a High Court injunction being issued against the directors and owner of Fernhill Farm this coming Monday 27th. The licence was handed back to the directors on the legal advice that the Big Green would not have a chance of winning the High Court hearing. read full story / add a comment

The offices of a newspaper serving Bristol's Somali community have been devastated in what is thought to have been a racially motivated arson attack. With the burning and clearing of the main migrant camp in Patras, Greece (see article below) it seems there is a Europe-Wide attack on those without the luck to have a EU-Passport.On Tuseday next week the make-shifts camp whoch the migrants have built in calais are to be destroyed.There are plans for mass- deportation flights to follow. Activists are travelling to Calais to witness, and to try to intervene in Calais as we speak. However, the situation is desperate and we call on all those who can't make it to call the numbers below. This morning (the 17th of July) at 5am the postal workers of Bristol, in Montpelier and Whitehall, went on strike demanding logical negotations with Royal Mail about their proposed 15% job cuts. There are more strikes in coming up. DEFEND POSTAL SERVICES: Support your local posties!!! WHAT WE CAN DO!
