NATO is 'celebrating' its 60th birthday in Strasbourg in April. The international anti-war movement is converging on Strasbourg for a demonstration against the biggest war mongers in the world. The activities during the anti-NATO protest will include a demonstration on Saturday 4th April, an international conference from Thursday 2nd April to Sunday 5th April, direct action and civil disobedience, and an international resistance camp from Wednesday 1st April to Sunday 5th April.

Bristol Stop the War are organising transport from Bristol for the weekend 3rd-5th April. Please email bristolstopwar@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining us.

Mohamed Elhaddad had a great send-off from Bristol last Friday to join the Viva Palestimna convoy to Gaza.. Even the Evening Post covered it – see http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/Dad-joins-mercy-mis....html.

At the time of writing, the convoy is in Fes, Morocco. You can check it's current location at http://www.vivapalestina.org/. Bristolians have already shown their generosity by donating money for Mohamed to take to Gaza. Amnesty researchers in Gaza found several weapon fragments after the fighting. One came from a 500lb (227kg) Mark-82 fin-guided bomb, which had markings indicating parts were made by the US company Raytheon. UWE students have claimed victory after a 3 day occupation of part of the Frenchay campus in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

A statement published on the occupation's blog has said that university management have agreed to a serious of demands during ongoing negotiations. The university has agreed to fund university scholarships for students affected by war and to support the DEC Gaza charity appeal. It will also "present to the governors a proposal for clean investment schemes".

UWE students have occupied part of the Frenchay Campus in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

The occupation is the latest in wave of student occupations at more than 25 universities across Britain in the past few weeks.

The UWE students are demanding that the university breaks its links with the arms industry and condemn the presence of the Raytheon arms company at the Bristol Business Park it co-owns. read full story / add a comment
