In a time when activists are being locked up for organising legal protests conventional activism needs to adapt to continue the fight against animal abusers.

Autonomous action will and must be taken to bring the fight to industry exploiting this planet and its inhabitants - enough is enough.

We must abandon the need for leadship in a time when leaders are easy targets for police. It is possible to organise without leadership and this event hopes to prove that the non hierarchical structure of the ALF and ELF can be applied to legal protest as well as direct action.

The police cannot destroy compassion, they can kill the protesters but they cannot kill the protest.

Make plans, do what is right. read full story / add a comment

A Mock Olympics was held today on College Green. The aim of the event was to remind people, amidst the hype of the Beijing olympics, of the Chinese government's sordid record when it comes to relations with Tibet, and with its own population.

Shocking video footage has been made available on the media website KentOnline, showing police thugs physically assaulting women in the vicinity of the climate camp, along with a male legal observer. Reports indicate at least one of the women assaulted is from Bristol, we await confirmation.

See the video here http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kol08/article/default.asp?a...46009 if you can. It may have been taken down by now but was originally put up on the Kent Online website at 7.09pm on Wednesday 6 August.

Disappointing to see that the sudden rush of 3 newswire posts, relating to the working class & struggle, fail to mention potentially one of the biggest ongoing series of strikes in Bristol and the rest of the country for many a year.

Wednesday & Thursday sees 2 days of strike action by many of the lowest paid workers in the public sector. Nationally upto 600,000 members of the Unison & Unite unions could take action in what may be the first of a series of rolling strikes. Next time around it may be 3 days, then 4, then…?
