somerset / transport / press release Friday November 10, 2006 00:22 by Stop Bristol Airport Expansion
The Stop Bristol Airport Expansion campaign (SBAE) believe that Bristol International Airport’s (BIA) Master Plan, launched today, could influence planning decisions, despite being a business plan and not a planning document. We will be closely scrutinising the plan in the light of the Stern Report published last week and last Saturday’s Climate Chaos rally. The Stern Report has emphasised the chaos and economic disaster that will follow if climate change is left unchecked, and acknowledges that aviation is the fastest growing source of CO2 emissions. The report should be a wake-up call for the Government and Local Authorities that the planned expansion of airports such as Bristol will damage the economy rather than enhance it. read full story / add a comment

Activists are back on site today, Section 6 notices are up and the activists are occupying the trees

They are asking for anyone who can to get there ASAP.

The trees used for the last camp were destroyed after the eviction, but there's around 180 still waiting to be saved.

More news as it comes in.

Background to the protest can be seen here http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/02/334302.html?c=on#c142859 read full story / add a comment
