Cyclists on recent Critical Mass bike rides in Bristol will know the rides are succeeding in disowning the aggressive, confrontational image some CMs may have had in the past in favour of a fun, cheery, carnival-like celebration of cycling.

The next Critical Mass ride is coming-up on Friday August 28: meet at the fountains opposite the Hippodrome at 5.30 for 6pm ride. read full story / add a comment

Bristol International Airport (BIA) has applied for planning permission to expand. This development aims to increase passengers by 60% by 2016, increase passenger flights by 40%, summer night flights by 50%, car journeys by over 2m per year, and carbon emissions by at least 40%. Time to stop the carbon-expansion madness! read full story / add a comment

Learning new skills at The Bristol Bike Project
bristol / transport / news report Saturday May 23, 2009 12:06 by James Lucas   image 1 image
Our emphasis is on helping people help themselves – as such, those wanting a bicycle come to our workshop in Stokes Croft and work on a bike of their choice. In doing so, we hope that they will learn new skills and develop a greater sense of their own abilities. Since December 2008 we have primarily been working with Refugees & Asylum-Seekers that have been forced to leave their native countries as a result of conflict and the threat of possible persecution and have given out over 70 recycled bikes to date, most of which would otherwise have gone to landfill. read full story / add a comment

20mph where people live improves quality of life. Many cities are adopting a default 20mph speed limit. The vast majority of people want lower speeds where they live - lets get Bristol to go further than the two areas they intend to pilot 20mph!! read full story / add a comment
