bristol / the environment / announcement Monday October 19, 2009 10:29 by Robert Palgrave
Bristol Council is considering a planning application from W4B to build a power station in Avonmouth that will burn approx 90,000 tonnes of virgin vegetable oil per year, including palm oil.

Several hundred objections have already been submitted. At the public meetings, speakers will explain why burning biofuels is bad for the climate, bad for biodiversity and bad for people in the global South.

We need more local people to actively campaign and persuade councillors to refuse permission for this development.

Last week’s Friday Drive show on 93.2 BCFM focused on housing in Bristol.

Below is the script of a report on empty property in the city and the freedom of information data on which it was based.

I have also linked to a list of every empty residential property in Bristol (as of April 2009) and a KML file plotting the addresses for use with Google Earth or Google Maps. read full story / add a comment

The Organic Debate - is it still relevant and necessary?
Speaker: Emma Hockridge, Soil Association

Talk and discussion around organic growing and current trends - do we stil need to promote organic food, is the argument won now that organic food is becoming mainstreamed e.g. in supermarkets or is there organic "wash" that we need to be wary of. What are the current concerns of the organic movement?

The meeting is open to all (entrance contribution to room hire) - come along and join in. read full story / add a comment

Today David Heath MP, the nice polite ex-optician who is MP for Yoevill, resigned from the Liberal front bench "on principal" about some chaotic bit of something-or-other about Europe. In October last year he was making chortly jokes accross the chamber about an obvious point of principal to anybody else but himself. read full story / add a comment

the information I am offering is on my website - www.terrorism.plus.com - there are instructions on how to take Israel (or anyone) to the International Criminal Court - and if you want it thate is also a myth explaoding short article on Hezbullah
I can expand on this if you lke.

It is very important to get as many letters as possible to the court... they normally respond to all.
And to tell the local and national media what you have done.
There is also a very major petition to be signed on our site, originating with Middle Eastern people.

I am happy to come and speak about this - and am an experienced and good public speaker. done loads of campaigns in Australia and some in South Africa.
