The world economy is in turmoil but while the fat cats still take home their city bonuses and hefty pensions we are the ones suffering, losing our jobs, our homes, and our civil liberties to boot. The current economic system has created an unaccountable political class more interested with the concerns of the millionaires that created this mess than the millions who they are supposed to represent. read full story / add a comment

Protest against NATO in Ukraine this year
south west / peace / announcement Monday November 10, 2008 22:43 by Sarah C   image 1 image   1 attached file
Despite the departure of Blair, Bush (very soon) and many other war mongerers across the globe the illeagal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan continue, the US is allowed to pursue its aggresive foreign policy regardless of international law. As most of us now accept the 'War on Terror' and the US's pursuit of world dominance makes the world a more unstable and unsafe place.
Since the end of the second world war the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) has been used to drive through US aggression with military bases on all continents and the promotion of nuclear prolifieration.
2009 is NATO's 60th Birthday and they are holding a conference In Strasbourg April 2-5th. Anti-war groups across Europe have joined together to call an international mobilisation against NATO and the spread of war. read full story / add a comment

What’s happening in the NHS is a deliberate attempt to break-up the public health system. The central principles of the NHS are under attack in a number of ways due to government policies and funding. The recent financial deficits and resultant cuts to services have been directly linked to the increase in private sector involvement in the NHS.
Here in Bristol we are threatened with PFI schemes, Independent Sector Treatment Centres, Foundation hospitals to name just a few of the problems.
Demonstrate in central London Saturday 3rd November, Free coaches will leave Anchor Rd at 8am please book your place in advance sarah@sarahcreagh.co.uk read full story / add a comment

John Kiely the LIb Dem councillor for Easton is destroying our elderly care services. He is responsible for pushing through a deal to privatise home care services which will inevitably lead to a decrease in working conditions for the home carers and a decrease in quality of service for the clients. (eg.just as it has in public transport, refuse collection etc.) This leaves some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in our society at risk.
The home care workers have organised themselves and given a massive fightback against these plans and John Kiely dismisses their views and actually called them 'a mob'! Now they need our support. A protest to sack Kiely not home carers has been called on St Marks Rd tomorrow (sorry for late posting) sat 31st march at 11am, come and support the workers taking a stand against this one star council. read full story / add a comment
