The offices of a newspaper serving Bristol's Somali community have been devastated in what is thought to have been a racially motivated arson attack. One of the issues surrounding this story though is the Bristol Evening Post's allowing racists to post freely in the article's comments section, denying any possibility of a racist motive. read full story / add a comment

Bates now claims that he is “aware (and will prove) that those images had been “exhaustively” examined (unlawfully) by Avon and Somerset police in September 2008 and were identified as being within active and archived case”. Therefore, he goes on, Mr Port has either been “seriously misled by his own officers”, or presented a misleading and “emotive story for public consumption”. read full story / add a comment

Bates: "The evidence I have collected over the six years since I first became involved in Operation ORE is extremely sensitive and undoubtedly includes information that the police (particularly CEOP) would prefer not to see revealed. It is likely that this evidence will eventually lead to exposure of the biggest police scandal that this country has ever seen." read full story / add a comment

After generally being an expert witness for the police computer expert Terence Bates starts to give evidence against the police. Hey presto - he is prosecuted and as the blowback begins for CPS and police corruption and he begins to clear his name the High Court steps in. Colin Port is looking decidedly rattled. read full story / add a comment

This article, written by Farroq Siddique of Bristol Muslim Cultural Society on 19th December 2008, was then re-written at the editor's request, for Christmas week Bristol Muslim column. Both versions have been censored by the editors, lawyer and management at the Bristol Evening Post citing material as being POTENTIALLY libellous. No column appeared that week. Lloyds TSB, one of the most dubious and highly secretive financial institutions responsible for the present and increasing economic catastrophe are being protected, and a demonised minority faith group censored. Utterly shameful IMO particularly in the light of today's announcement on Radio 4 10 o'clock news that Israeli forces have been herding Palestinians into 'safe buildings' then shelling them there. read full story / add a comment
