It is our understanding that His Honour Judge Bathurst-Norman, who used to sit at Southwark Crown Court, has been assigned to sit on the case. This means the trial will be going ahead on 7th June.

Summary of today's court hearing:

There is NO Guarantee the trial will start on the 7th

Update on EDO/ITT Decommissioners Case.

Yesterday the Preparatory Hearing relating to the EDO/ITT defendants took place at Hove Crown Court.

Although scheduled for a two day hearing all was done and dusted within the first day.

This hearing, by Judge Kemp, was to determine which arguments in law could be brought by the defence before the court at there trial due to commence on 17th May, 2010.
It was anticipated by the defence that there are two linked issues that required consideration.
i) The circumstances in which a judge may withdraw a defendant’s defence;
ii) Whether the facts relied on by the defendants’ amounts to defences in law.

The points of law up for scrutiny were regarding to:

Criminal Damage Act 1971

Criminal Law Act 1967

The common law defence of necessity. read full story / add a comment

I'm poor, I can't afford a pc in my house 24hrs a day. I don't live near a library, or any other free internet service, i only live near an internet cafe which charges. I work on minimum wage, I don't have time or money left to buy a bike and cycle around bristol looking for free internet access. All I have time and money for is the internet cafe near me. I only have about 50 - £1 to spend each week. read full story / add a comment
